how cool! - I got a really similar shot of white pelicans in florida in early march. funny how half-way around the world the same birds show similar patterns and two aminus3 photographers are there to capture the moment :)
I'll post my shot soon - it doesn't have the same glorious colours as yours, but I like the synchronicity.
